12.50 lakh stuck driving licenses to be distributed soon

Staff Correspondent: The smart card printing of around 12.50 lakh driving licenses stuck due to various complications has started. The desired license will be distributed to the customers within the next two days after the completion of the specified process.
Confirming the matter on Monday morning, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Director Sheikh Mahbub-e-Rabbani told the media that the printing work has started from Gazipur Machine Tools Factory on Sunday (October 10). We will send it to our outlets by courier, the SMS will go to the applicant’s mobile – then they will come and collect the driving license from that office. However, he said it would take “another two days” for the license to reach the customer.
According to BRTA sources, BRTA is issuing licenses to those who are applying for new driving licenses on the due date.
It is also learned that Tiger IT, a contracted company that provided the driver’s license smart card, has withdrawn from 2019. After that BRTA got into a lot of trouble. However, the authorities are claiming that “there is no more crisis now”. New applicants are getting smart driving licenses on time.
About this, BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Majumder said 12.45 lakh driving licenses are “pending”. To expedite this, we have given a work order to Gazipur Machine Tools Factory of Bangladesh Army through the DPM system and an agreement has also been reached. Printing will start in October. Hopefully, We will be able to provide all the licenses within six months.
