180-200 BCF of gas found in Bhola Elisha-1 well
Industry Desk: Island district Bhola is showing the light of hope one after another amid the fuel crisis and the high price of energy gas in the global market. After finding a large amount of gas in 8 wells in the district so far, the state-owned company BAPEX has informed about the finding of gas in another new well named Elisha-1.
It is estimated that 20-22 million cubic feet of gas will be available daily in this well and 180-200 BCF of gas can be reserved. However, it will take some time to get specific information about this. Bhola residents are happy with the news of the gas discovery. With this, BAPEX found gas in a total of 9 wells in the district.
The government has taken various steps in the production of domestic gas in order to overcome the energy crisis in the country. As a part of this, BAPEX took the initiative to drill Elisha-l well in Bhola.
On March 8, excavation of Elisha-1 started in the area adjacent to Malerhat in the West Elisha Union of Bhola Sadar Upazila.
The drilling of the well was successfully completed on April 24 through DST (Drill Stem State) in three levels at a depth of 3,475 meters. Then BAPEX found gas through fire management from 7 am yesterday.
According to BAPEX design and location, international company Gazprom of Russia is conducting well drilling. The new well is expected to produce 20-22 million cubic feet of gas per day and is estimated to hold 180-200 BCF of gas reserves.
BAPEX said that they have to wait for some more time to get more information or to know the details. Bapex said that if everything goes well, they will officially start the work of gas lifting on May 15 – which will help to meet the gas shortage in the country.
