50 BRTC buses ready for metro passengers
Staff Correspondent: The much-awaited first metro rail service will be inaugurated on December 28. Initially, the rail network will span 12 kilometres from Uttara’s Diabari to Agargaon.
Meanwhile, there are 50 double-decker buses of BRTC at the start-end station for metro passengers. According to the agreement, these buses will carry the passengers to the station.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) and the BRTC signed an agreement on November 17, designating 50 double-decker buses to shuttle passengers from the Diabari and Agargaon stations.
“Under the agreement, BRTC will carry out the work of transporting passengers,” said MAN Siddique, managing director of DMTCL.
DMTCL managing director MAN Siddique told the media that BRTC buses will take passengers from Uttara and surrounding areas to Diabari station. Similarly, BRTC will provide bus service from Motijheel to Agargaon to transport the passengers of Agargaon.
BRTC has fixed two routes for bringing and taking metro rail passengers to their destinations. A bus route will run from Agargaon to Motijheel via Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, Gulistan. At the same time, this route will bring passengers to Agargaon Metro station.
Another route is from Diabari Station to Uttara House Building Bus Stand. BRTC buses will carry passengers on this route.
Uttara to Agargaon metro rail has a total of 9 stations including Uttara North, Uttara Center, Uttara South, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Shewrapara and Agargaon.
