Abdul Jalil expects AL nomination from Cumilla-5 constituency

KM Saifur Rahman: Eminent social activist and educationist Md. Abdul Jalil is an expecting canddiate to contest the ensuing general elections from Cumilla-5 (Burichong-Brahmanpara) constituency with the ruling Awami League poll symbol ‘boat’.
As part of his preparation, he has been carrying out mass contact programme in different places under the constituency.
On Friday, he, along with a large number of leaders and activists, visited a number of areas including Deergobhumi and Mahalakshipara Village Brakshanpara Upazila Sadar Union, and Golabaria, Gazi Market, Shidlai Bazar of Shidlai Union and exchanged courtesy with people of all classes and professions.
During the mass contact programme, the leaders and activists supported by Abdul Jalil, known as the peddler of humanity, distributed leaflets showing different developments and successes of Bangladesh Awami League government, the oldest party in the country. They urged the voters to cast their votes in favour of the boat symbol in the upcoming elections.
Abdul Jalil, who is seeking nomination from Awami League in Cumilla-5 (Burichong – Brahmanpara) constituency, has been active in all party activities and has been serving the poor, destitute, day-labourers and helpless people for a long time.
During the Corona period, he responded to the call of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and personally delivered cash and food items to the needy people.
Besides, Abdul Jalil’s contribution to the country’s economy is undeniable. By using his professional skills, he taught IELTS and Spoken English to nearly 2,000 talented students from various districts of the country including Cumilla with honesty and trustworthiness, and has played a major role in the career as well as achieving higher education at home and abroad. The remittance earned by the expatriates contribute significantly to the country’s economy.
During the mass contact programme, he told the media that if he is given the opportunity to contest the election and if voted, he would work tirelessly to build a smart Bangladesh as announced by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“We want to play a major role in the development of roads in the area along with education. We want to establish a modern university here named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said.
Abdul Jalil, a friend of the poor, lamented and said, “I have been conducting various humanitarian activities and party activities with the honestly earned money.
Some politicians were jealous of my success and unjustly deprived me of party positions in Awami League. I have no regrets about that, I respect Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his noble daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana Apa. May Allah bless them both with good health and long life,” he added.
Abdul Jalil regretted that he has been denied the party nomination despite having a massive public support in the by-elections to this seat earlier as well.
“I and my family members are actively involved in Awami League politics. If necessary, Awami League’s senior activists and secret intelligence report my public support and how I am as a person? You can verify it. I am satisfied with what Almighty Allah has given me. I have nothing to ask for, as long as I live, I will work for the Awami League as well as for the poor-suffering and hard-working people,” he said.
He said Bangabandhu’s daughter always knows how to value young, selfless and talented leaders and activists.
I am hopeful that Sheikh Hasina will nominate me as the party candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in Cumilla-5 (Burichong-Brahmanpara) constituency in the upcoming national elections, he asserted.
Abdul Jalil further said he remains besides the people of Burichong-Brahmanpara constituency in their happiness and sorrow. “I am and I will be in the future, inshallah. As a party nominee of Bangladesh Awami League, if I am elected with the boat symbol, I will be able to gift the seat to party leader Sheikh Hasina with the help of all.”
