One-point movement: 13 policemen among 23 killed in Sirajganj clash
Staff Correspondent: At least 23 people including 13 policemen were killed and over 200 injured in clashes among police, protesters and leaders and activists of Awami League in different parts of Sirajganj district during the nationwide one-point movement on Sunday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Clashes erupted in different parts of the district including Boropool, SS road in district town, Shahzadpur, Ullapara and Tarash upazilas of the district.
A group of miscreants swooped on the Enayetpur Police Station in the afternoon and beat up thirteen policemen mercilessly, leaving them dead.
The clashes spread out to different parts of the district.
A number of houses of Awami League leaders and activists and different establishments were vandalised during the clashes.
Besides, attacks were also carried out in different police stations including Belkuchi, Hatikumrul police stations.
Harunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Raiganj Police Station, said five people were killed during the clash in the upazila.
