Staff Correspondent: Nobel laureate professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus agreed to head the interim government. He is said to have agreed to the proposal of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement to form an interim government with him as chief adviser.
Before this, the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement outlined the formation of the interim government with Muhammad Yunus as the chief adviser. Nahid Hasan, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced this in a video message posted on Facebook after 4 am on Tuesday.

I told them, I have a lot of work that I have to finish. But the students requested me again and again saying that we have succeeded in such a bloody movement. Many people lost their lives in this movement, many students, common people were killed. Now Bangladesh has an opportunity to manage the country in a fair manner. In that case it is possible only if you take responsibility. It’s not going to be good for any of us if you don’t agree to take responsibility. That is why we request you to take responsibility.
He also said, ‘When the students say this, I myself consider that these students have done so much agitation, they have to pay so much for it. If the students can sacrifice so much, if the people of the country can sacrifice so much, then I also have some responsibility. Then I told the students that I am willing to take the responsibility of the interim government.
Dr. Nahid Hasan said in a video message about the appointment of Muhammad Yunus as the chief adviser, “We took 24 hours to outline the formation of the interim government. But considering the urgent situation, I am announcing the outline now. A student-citizen group said the interim government will be formed with Muhammad Yunus as chief adviser. We have spoken with him, he has agreed to take responsibility.
He said, “There will be a request to the president.” An interim government should be formed with Muhammad Yunus as the chief adviser. We will also announce the names of the remaining members of the interim government in the morning. We want to see the government formation process by morning.
Earlier, Nahid Islam said in a press conference in Tejgaon of the capital on Monday, “Within the next 24 hours, we will propose an interim national government.” That national government will have a student-citizen component and various professionals and parties including civil society. We will announce the outline of the interim national government and the names of those who will be in that government through discussions with them ensuring the representation of all.
