Sheikh Hasina Int’l Cricket stadium near Padma on cards
Manikganj Correspondent:The government has decided to build a new international cricket stadium after name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, near Paturia ghat, close to the famous Padma River in Shibaloy upazila of Manikganj.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Hasan Russell, Manikganj-1 MP and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Naimur Rahman Durjoy and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Abdullah Al Islam Jakob visited the proposed site for the stadium on Saturday afternoon. Asked when the construction work will start, State Minister for Sports Zahid Hasan Russell said, “There are many types of surveys. If we build such a stadium here, we have to check whether the ground will be cartel or how much it has to be taken down. It usually takes 3 to 6 months. If that happens then I think the process of construction work will start.”
Work on this physical study will begin in a week next. A budget of Tk 4 crore has also been made for this. Construction work will start this financial year after the completion of physical study, he said.
He further said, “Since it is a priority project of Prime Minister, she herself has announced the project. We will try to start work of the stadium this financial year.”
