Nasir, Tamima marriage illegal
Says Dhaka Court
Court Correspondent: A Dhaka court framed charges against national team cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima in a case filed over their ‘illegal marriage’.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain issued the order yesterday.
The court, however, discharged Tamima’s mother Sumi Akter from the charges as it did not find any allegation against her in the case.
The magistrate also fixed March 10 for starting trial of the case.
On September 30, police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said their marriage is illegal as is still wife of businessman Rakib Hasan.
On October 31, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohamamd Jashim granted them bail after they had surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
According to the case statement, Tamima got married to Rakib Hasan on February 26, 2011 and they have an eight-year-old daughter.
Tamima later got married to the cricketer on February 24, 2021 while photographs of their marriage went viral on social media which drew the attention of Rakib Hasan.
