Gold prices hike in local market

Staff Correspondent: The price of all types of gold in the country’s market has increased by Tk 1,866 per bhori. From now on, the price of 22-carat bhori will be 74,999.
The new price of ornaments made by gold will be effective from today.
The new price of gold was informed to the media in a notification on Wednesday, signed by MA Hannan Azad, chairman of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Monitoring of Bangladesh Jewelers Shamity (BAJUS).
The notification said from now on, the price of 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 74,999.52 per bhori. 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 71,675.28 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 61,819.20 and traditional gold will be sold at Tk 51,204.96 per bhori.
According to the new price list set by BAJUS, the current price of 22-carat gold is Tk 73,133 per bhori till yesterday. Now, the price has been increased to Tk 1,866.52.
Now, 21-carat gold is being sold at Tk 69,984 per bhori – this now increased by Tk 1,691.28 per bhori. Besides, 18-carat gold is being sold at Tk 61,236 per bhori – increased by Tk 583.20 per bhori.
The traditional gold is being sold at Tk 50,913 per bhori til Wednesday – which is increased by Tk 291.96 per bhori.
Price of silver remains unchanged
Silver of 22-carat is being sold at Tk 1,517 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 1,435 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 1,215 per bhori and traditional is being sold at Tk 933 per bhori.
MA Hannan Azad said all jewelry traders were requested to sell gold at BAJUS fixed price list until further instructions.
