Syed Nasir Hossain: The remarkable progress has been made in public-private partnership (PPP) development projects of the country. Upcoming 78 development projects. Of these, 26 projects are in the procurement and implementation stage. The rest are in different stages of implementation. As a result, those concerned are seeing the light of hope in the PPP project. These projects have been included in the revised Annual Development Program (RADP) for the current financial year.
The RADP review found that among the projects earmarked for PPP (Public-Private Partnership), 8 projects are in compliance with the post-contractual condition. There is also a project in the final approval stage of the CCEA (Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs). There is a project in the contract signing stage. There are 12 projects in the recruitment phase of consultants. Besides, there are 21 projects in the detailed study stage and six projects in the preliminary stage after policy approval.
State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam said that we need a lot of investments. In this case, the private sector has to be used. Now many entrepreneurs have been created to invest in the country. PPP authorities are working to utilize this category. The projects listed in the RADP will be implemented in phases.
One of the leading projects in PPP is MRT Line-2 project. The cost of its implementation has been estimated at Tk 29,561.50 crore. Besides, the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project will cost Tk 10,585.50 crore. Construction of High-Rise Residential Apartment Building for Low- and Middle-Income Group of people. Jhilmil Residential Project Dhaka project will cost Tk 9,989 crore.
Besides Development Water Distribution and Supply Facilities it will cost Tk 680 crore to implement Purbachal New Town project. The Mirpur Integrated Township Development Project will cost Tk 8,269 crore. Upgrading of Dhaka Bypass to four lane project will cost Tk 3,051.50 crore.
Improvement of Hatirjheel-Rampura-Banasree Ideal School and College Shekerjayaga-Amulia Demra Highway Into four lane project will cost Tk 2,217.50 crore. Upgrading of Gabtali-Savar-Nabinagar Four Lane Expressway project will cost Tk 2,690 crore. Improvement of Dhaka (Joydebpur) Mymensingh Expressway project will cost Tk 3,353.25 crore.
Sultana Afroz, chief executive officer of the PPP authority said that massive initiatives have been taken to speed up PPP projects and that progress has already been made on many projects. We strive to maximize the participation of private entrepreneurs in PPP.
Some of the other projects on PPP’s list are: Development of Occupational Diseases Hospital, Labor Welfare Center and Commercial Complex. This is Chashara Narayanganj project. The total cost of its implementation has been estimated at Tk 298.50 crore. Besides, development of textile mill, Tongi, Gazipur project has cost a total of Tk 425 crore. Development of Cotton Mills Project in Tangail project cost Tk1,265 crore.
Development of BTMC Textile Mills: The RR project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Textiles Mills: Dust Textile Limited Feni project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Textile Mills: Magura Textile Mills Magura project will cost Tk 425 crore.
Development of BTMC Textile Mills Rajshahi project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Textile Mills Chittagong project will cost Tk 425. Development of BTMC Textile Mills Rangmati project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Textile Mills: The Asiatic Cotton Mills Chittagong project will cost Tk 425 crore.
Development of BTMC Textile Mills: Jolly Textile Limited Chittagong project cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Textile Mills: Bengal Textile Mills, Jessore project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Sundarbans Textile Mills Satkhira project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Dinajpur Textile Mills project will cost Tk 425 crore.
Development of BTMC Textile Mills Nilphamari project will cost Tk 425 crore. Development of BTMC Textile Mills Offshore project will cost Tk 425 crore.
There is also the second Padma Multipurpose Bridge at Paturia Goaland project, which will cost Tk 12,650 crore. Construction of Bay Terminal project will cost Tk 18,858.50 crore.
The Kamalapur Multi-Model Hub project will cost Tk 22,056.50 crore. New Modern Medical College and Hospital of 250 Beds on the Unused Land Khulna project will cost Tk 750 crore and Establishment of a 500-Bed Multi Specialty Hospital and 100 Seat Medical College on Bangladesh Railway Seat in Nilphamari project will cost Tk 673.50 crore.
