First Hajj flight with 415 pilgrims
Staff Correspondent : The first Hajj flight of the year is starting on Sunday. On this day, 415 pilgrims will be going to Saudi Arabia on the first flight at 9 am. Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ BG-3001 will operate the first flight for government-management Hajj pilgrims.
This information has been obtained from the list of the first flight for the government-management Hajj pilgrims yesterday.
Mohammad Anwar Hossain, public relations officer at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said Biman had organized an event on Sunday morning to mark the inaugural flight. The State Minister for Religious Affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan has been invited. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali will also be there. They will bid farewell to the pilgrims and prayers will be offered. The holy Hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on July 8, subject to the sighting of the moon. This year, 57,858 people from Bangladesh will get the opportunity to perform Hajj. Among these, 4,000 will be able to go for Hajj under government management and 53,585 under private management.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this year’s Hajj activities on Friday. The Hajj flight was supposed to start on May 31. However, the Hajj flight is starting on June 5 as some preparations of Saudi Arabia have not been completed in the Bangladesh part. The flight to Saudi Arabia will end on July 3. The return flight after Hajj will start on July 14 and end on August 14.
