Bangabandhu Tunnel work to be completed soon

Staff Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said that 87 percent of work of the under-constructed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel at the bottom of Karnaphuli River has been completed. The rest of the work has to be completed quickly.
He said this at an exchange meeting with officials of the Bridges Division and Bangladesh Bridge Authority at the conference room of Setu Bhaban yesterday morning.
At the time, the minister was also directed to complete all the ongoing projects under the Bridges Division.
The Bridges Minister said the road inside the two tubes of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel will be visible soon. Work on the tunnel-centric link road is also in its final stages. The tunnel is scheduled to open in December.
Md. Manzur Hossain, secretary of the Bridges Division and senior officials of the Bridges Division and Bangladesh Bridge Authority were present at the time.
