Special Correspondent: In the Bengali calendar, these two months of Ashar-Shravan are the rainy season. During this time, there will be torrential rains, people will suffer, and they will give joy. Water will overflow in canal-bil-pond. Farmers will have a busy time planting seeds in mud covered crop fields. And nature will be fresher. This is the character of monsoon.
But for the last few years that character is no longer seen. Now full monsoon heat wave. Sometimes it rains a little, but the nature burns with the intensity of summer. Even during full monsoons, the temperature rises to 35 degrees Celsius. And it is predicted to increase further by the Meteorological Department. Meteorologists blame the effect of climate change for this double-edged behavior of nature.
According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of rain across the country in the next 24 hours. At this time, light to moderate rain with gusty winds may occur temporarily in many places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions of the country. Also, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. However, the day and night temperatures may remain unchanged in the next 24 hours.
Meteorologist Md. Manowar Hossain said that the axis of the monsoon extends through Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and the central region of Bangladesh to Assam. Its extension extends to the northeastern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay of Bengal. And due to the increase in temperature, the water is turning into water vapor and flying away. That’s why it doesn’t rain in torrents. And such situation may continue for next two/three days.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, the temperature was higher in almost all the districts of the country. The highest temperature recorded at Ishwardi during this period was 35.2 degrees Celsius. Besides, the temperature was 35 degree Celsius in Sitakunda and Syedpur of the country. Dhaka, Madaripur, Rajshahi, Badalgachi, Dimla, Rajarhat, Sylhet and Feni had temperatures above 35 degrees. And at least ten districts had temperatures above 33 degrees. During the same period the highest rainfall was recorded in Jessore at 72 mm.
After that, 58 mm rainfall was recorded in Khepupara of Patukhali district. Besides, most of the districts of the country received less than 10 milliliters of rain.
The amount of rainfall is less in the entire monsoon season. According to the sources of the Meteorological Department, in the month of July, Dhaka Division received 116 mm of rain, Chittagong Division 232 mm, Mymensingh 204 mm, Rajshahi 138 mm, Rangpur 299 mm, Khulna 120 mm, Barisal 220 mm and Sylhet maximum 531 mm. Meteorologists say that global warming is affecting the climate. So, we see negative behavior in nature.
In this context, meteorologist Afroza Sultana told, “About a third of the amount of rain that falls in the monsoon season has fallen this time. We generally consider June-July and August as monsoon season. Rainfall tends to increase from June, rains throughout July and decreases from mid-August. Then gradually the feeling of hemanta comes.

Meanwhile, the quarterly report of the Meteorological Department says that there is no possibility of heavy or continuous rainfall in August as well. Normal rainfall is predicted but two depressions are forecast for this month. Due to which coastal areas may experience temporary flooding.
