Govt preparing to deal with food crisis: Planning Minister
Staff Correspondent: Planning Minister MA Mannan said that the government is making all kinds of preparations keeping in mind the fear of food shortage. Everyone has to work together to deal with the crisis.
He said, we have to increase our own ability to deal with the global crisis. Everyone has to work to go ahead.
He said this at a seminar on ‘Food and Nutrition Security’ at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital yesterday.
The Planning Minister said that the people of our country are historically associated with agriculture. But what is important is that this profession is recognized. Which resulted in the revolutionary change. People from both public and private sectors, have contributed to the evolution that has taken place.
He also said that the recognition of the agricultural sector has given one kind of energy to work. Which was possible because of everyone’s effort.
There is nothing to take credit for alone. We are moving forward as a result of government’s proper planning and its conversion into budget. At one time no one thought that electricity would be available in all the houses in the whole country. The current government has implemented it.
Netherlands Alumni of Bangladesh organized this seminar. Netherlands Ambassador to Dhaka ANE van Leon also spoke on the occasion.
