ATN Group to set up pvt medical varsity

Staff Correspondent: Global Development Bank (GDB) has in principle agreed to arrange finance for setting up a medical university with 500-beded hospital in Dhaka. The international standard medical varsity would be named on the mother of prime minister-Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University and Hospital at a cost of Tk 1,200 crore.
Chairman of ATN Group Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, the local partner of the medical university, has attended in a meeting with the financer organization -Global Development Bank (GDB). President of GDB Dr. Enayet Karim led the financer side. While concern senior officials of both the sides were present.
The main target of the venture will be internationalized Bangladeshi medical services and education for saving medical tourism cost. Half of the seats in both for medical education and healthcare services will be dedicatedly open for the foreign clients, which will be a source of earning foreign currencies worth Tk 500 crore yearly.
ATN Group chairman Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman put emphasise on a special window for infertility department, so that the baby-less couples can bless babies.
GDB president Dr. Enayet Karim suggested for arranging the project under joint venture or build, own and operate (BOO), so that no pressure will impose on repayment immediately.
