Auto-rickshaws can contribute Tk 8,000 cr revenue annually

Mahfuz Emran : If battery-powered easybikes and auto-rickshaws are approved and registered, it will be possible to generate revenue of Tk 8000 crore annually. Currently, extortionists are taking a huge amount of money from this sector. So far, the government has been deprived of revenue of Tk 15 thousand crore from these vehicles.
A company named Bangladesh Electric Battery and Motorized Autorickshaw Autobike Service Limited gave this information in a press conference at the National Press Club recently.
At that time, the managing director of the organization was present at the press conference. Abul Kalam, Legal Adviser and Director Advocate Md. Zahidul Islam, director Mujibur Rahman Rana and others.
Managing Director Abul Kalam said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges has issued a notification to approve such vehicles, including easy bikes, on the orders of the High Court.
But Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is not taking any registration process in light of that notification. He alleged that BRTA’s chairman and the concerned people were being negligent when contacted.
He proposed to the government and said that by using our organization, the government can collect approximately Tk 8,000 crores of revenue from 4 million easybike auto-rickshaws across the country with 15 percent VAT and 5 percent tax.
