Staff Correspondent: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal yesterday expected that Bangladesh will be the topmost in terms of GDP growth among other South Asian countries with securing 6.1 percent growth rate in the current FY 2020-21.
“Our GDP growth rate will be 6.1 percent at the end of the current fiscal which would be the highest one among all the South and South-East Asian countries amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
The minister came up with the expectation while addressing supplementary budget of FY 2020-21 session at the Jatiya Sangsad last noon.
“We have revised and adjusted our revenue income, expenditure and deficit in the supplementary budget considering the economic consequence amid the ongoing pandemic. And that’s why, GDP target also has been re-fixed to 6.1 percent by reducing its earlier 8.2 percent GDP growth target.”
