Bangladeshi ship captured by pirates in Indian Ocean
23 sailors hostage
Industry Desk : The Bangladeshi flag ship MV Abdullah, on its way to the United Arab Emirates with coal from Mozambique in Africa, has been captured by pirates in the Indian Ocean. There were 23 Bangladeshi sailors on that ship. The owner of the ship said that they are all hostage.
SR Shipping, owned by KSRM Group, transports goods by sea. The ship’s captain is Abdur Rashid.
CEO of SR Shipping Mohammad Meherul Karim said that the message was sent from the ship around 1:30 PM Bangladesh time on Tuesday. Pirates have captured the ship. Our sailors are stranded. We are trying to find out the details.
Earlier in December 2010, the Bangladeshi ship Jahan Mani was captured by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea. Twenty-five sailors and the wife of the chief engineer of the ship were taken hostage.
After 100 days of trying in various ways, they were freed from the pirates. Later they were brought back to the country.
