Bumper Aush yieldexpected in Jamalpur
Jamalpur Correspondent: Bumper production of Aush rice is being expected in Jamalpur this Kharip-1 season while 4,045 hectares of land brought under the crop cultivation with a production target of 10,611 tonnes of rice.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) officials, farmers of the district cultivated two varieties of Aush paddy of which high yielding variety of the crop was cultivated on 3,952 hectares of land with a production target of 10,493 tonnes and local variety of the crop was cultivated on 93 hectares of land with a production target of 118 tonnes of rice. Aiming to increase the production of Aush paddy, the government disbursed agro-incentive to 6,000 small and marginal farmers in the district under its “Agriculture Incentive Distribution Programme”. Under the programme, each of the farmers received five kilograms (Kgs) of Aush seed, 20-kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and 10-kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) free of cost for cultivating one Bigha of land.
