Cattle market to be closed if hygiene rules not followed
Staff Correspondent: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam yesterday said there are three mobile courts for nine cattle markets in the DNCC area. If any cattle market does not follow the hygiene rules, it will be closed.
He said this while visiting Sayeed Nagar Hat in the capital’s Bhatara yesterday.
During this, the DNCC mayor called on the visitors to the cattle market to lodge a complaint on the ‘Sobar Dhaka’ app. “Action would be taken within 24 hours if anyone complained in the app,” he said.
Mayor Atiq said there are five councilors in charge of each market. Tell them if you see others’ reluctance to follow the hygiene rules. If there are any complaints against them, let us know in the app. This year, we are very strict about hygiene.
This is the first time we have arranged for the Covid-19 test at nine cattle markets. Each market has also 200 volunteers from Shakti Foundation and the hat lessees for hygiene, mayor Atiq also said, adding that everyone is being made aware to wear masks with the slogan “mask for me, safety for all”.
The DNCC mayor said 5 areas in each of 54 wards or 270 areas have been allotted. “I request all to make sacrifices in those designated places,” he added.
DNCC CEO Selim Reza, senior DNCC officials and local councilors were present at the occasion.
