Chandana commuter train to make stoppage in Faridpur

Faridpur Correspondent: Local people have expressed satisfaction after the authorities decided that the Chandana commuter train will stop at Faridpur.  The train travels from Rajbari to Dhaka. Passengers were seen waiting in queue yesterday morning, on the first day of the operation of the new stoppage. The train stopped in Faridpur at 5:35am and waited for two minutes.

Later, it departed for Dhaka. On May 25 this year, local residents staged a protest at the railway station, demanding a stoppage for the Chandana commuter train. One of the protestors, Selim Mia said that it is the result of a two-month struggle. He also thanked the railway minister for the initiative.  Station Master Sujal Ali Sardar said: “The train will stop here six days a week, except for Friday. We have received the instruction in this regard. The tickets from Faridpur to Bhanga are Tk45.

Passengers will have to buy another ticket to travel to Dhaka from Bhanga. The return train will arrive in Faridpur at 8pm.” On May 4, two pairs of commuter trains were inaugurated on the Rajbari-Dhaka route.
