8354 infected in 24hrs
Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh yesterdayreported 8,354 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 43 lives which is five-month high, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.
The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,670 people and infected 18,79,255 so far, the statement added.
The current positivity rate is 20.03 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.67 percent. A total of 41,698 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.
The recovery count rose to 16,22,857 after another 10,800 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.
Earlier, 9,369 Covid-19 cases and 38 deaths were reported in the previous day.
From the beginning of the pandemic, 86.04 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.53 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.
Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection coronavirus cases in the country.
