DSE market capital decreased by Tk 6,000 cr
Staff Correspondent: The country’s stock market has gone through the last three working days of last week through falling prices. As a result, the market capitalization of the main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has decreased by about Tk 6,000 crore in a single week. Along with the decrease in market capitalization, all the price indexes have also come down. However, the daily average transaction has increased.
At the end of last week’s trading day, the market capitalization of DSE stood at Tk five lakh 31 thousand 12 crore. Which in the last working day of the previous week was Tk five lakh 36 thousand 981 crore. In other words, the market capitalization of DSE decreased by Tk 5,949 crore last week.
Increasing or decreasing the market capitalization means that the share and unit prices of the listed companies have increased or decreased that amount collectively. In other words, when the market capital increases, the amount of money invested by the investors increases.
Similarly, when the market capitalization decreases, the amount of money invested by the investors decreases.
In addition to the decline in market capitalization, a large number of companies have listed on the DSE in the last week to reduce their share and unit prices. Shares and unit prices of 123 companies traded on the DSE during the week. On the other hand, the price of 226 has come down. And the price of 35 has remained unchanged.
Last week, the DSEX, the main price index of DSE, decreased by 90.20 points or 1.36 percent. In the previous week, the index decreased by 7.60 points or 0.10 percent.
The DSE-30 index, which is made up of well-selected companies, has declined by 53.75 points or 2.19 percent over the past week. In the previous week, the index decreased by 16.31 points or 60 percent.
The DSE Shariah Index, which is based on Islamic Shariah-compliant companies, has declined along with the main price index and selected index consisting of good companies. Last week, the index fell 14.61 points, or 1.2 percent. In the previous week, the index decreased by 17.64 points or 1.20 percent.
Last week, the average turnover on the DSE was 1,79.56 crore per working day. In the previous week, the average daily turnover was Tk 811.56 crore. In other words, the average transaction per working day has increased by Tk 28 crore or 33.02 percent.
The total turnover on the DSE during the last week was Tk five thousand 398 crore 93 lakh. The previous week’s transaction was Tk four thousand 56 crore 91 lakh. As a result, the total transaction has increased by Tk one thousand 340 crore two lakh or 33.02 percent. Shares of JMI Hospital were the most traded currency on the DSE last week. During the week, the company’s share turnover was Tk 230 crore 20 lakh 40 thousand, which is 4.28 percent of the total transaction.
Beximco, which is in the second place, had a turnover of Tk 183.15 crore. ACI formulation is in the third place with a transaction of Tk 160 crore seven lakh 71 thousand.
Besides, Shahinpukur Ceramic, IPDC Finance, Unique Hotel, Orion Pharma, Rangpur Dairy and Food Products, Fortune Shoes and Eastern Housing are among the top 10 companies in the transaction.
