Education Minister to disclose decision on SSC, HSC today

Staff Correspondent: Education Minister Dipu Moni will disclose the final decision of SSC and HSC examinations today.
She will brief media virtually in this regard around 11:00 am. The Ministry is mulling to promote the students by alternative system if it is not possible to hold the examinations of this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Some proposals in this regard have already been sent to Prime Minister Sheikh. The proposals include holding the examinations in multiple choice questions (MCQ) only excluding compositional or creative questions, arranging the exams by reducing subjects and full standard (total number of exams). In this case, two papers of each subject will be combined.
Besides, there is also a proposal to hold the exams at 100 marks instead of 200 marks. But in both cases it is necessary to improve the situation. If the infection rate falls below 10 percent, the exams will be held after confirming the hygiene rules. The number of exam centers will make double to hold the examinations with following hygiene rules.
If this is not possible, in the case of SSC, 50 percent of the results of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination and 50 percent of the results on assignments and class activities may be prepared. In case of HSC, it has been proposed to publish the results by combining 50 percent of the student’s SSC result, 25 percent of JSC’s and 25 percent of the assignment result.
PM has approved a proposal in this regard. The decision has been sent to Education Minister Dipu Moni. She brief media to disclose the matter today.
