Educational institutions to reopen Sunday
Staff Correspondent: The Ministry of Education in Bangladeshhas announced that all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will reopen and resume academic activities starting this Sunday.
This decision, issued on Thursday, follows instructions from the chief adviser of the interim government to restart educational operations.
Educational institutions had been closed indefinitely since July 17 due to safety concerns arising from clashes during the recent job quota reform protests.
Although classes were initially set to resume on August 4 for all government primary schools, excluding those in the 12 city corporations and Narsingdi municipality, this reopening was delayed. A subsequent plan to reopen on August 7 also faced setbacks due to the ongoing situation.
With the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education’s directive on Wednesday to fully reopen primary schools and resume classroom activities, regular classes are expected to begin anew, despite current low attendance levels.
