Govt implementing Tk 8,500cr dev works on river Teesta
Staff Correspondent: Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi yesterday said development work on both sides of the river ‘Teesta’ is being implemented at a cost of about Tk 8,500 crore.
“The Rangpur region was once backward, we are not backward now. Our Rangpur is also moving forward keeping pace with the development of the country. The development of Rangpur is now visible,” he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a scholarship giving function, organized by Rangpur Division Journalists Association (RDJA) at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) auditorium in the city, said a press release.
In his speech, the minister informed that the work of supplying gas through pipes in Rangpur is progressing fast and it will be completed in a short time.
“Work is underway to set up several special economic zones in the Rangpur region. Development work on both sides of the river ‘Teesta’ is being implemented at a cost of about Taka 8,500 crore. Industrial factories are being set up here,” he added. RDJA President Maksudur Rahman presided over the function.
