Inflation rate risesto 9.33 percent

Industry Desk: The inflation rate rose to 9.33 percent in March which was 8.78 percent in February.
Planning Minister MA Mannan said this while revealing the latest data of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) after ECNEC meeting in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar yesterday. The minister said, “We had said before that the inflation rate would rise. Now it stood at 9.33 percent. However, God saved that it did not reach 10 percent.”
According to BBS data, general inflation rate in food sector stood at 9.09 percent which was 8.13 percent.
The BBS data said the inflation rate have increased in fish, meat, vegetables, spices and tobacco products. Along with this, the prices of house rent, furniture, household goods, medical care, transport and educational materials have also increased. State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam said, “The inflation rate may increase again due to the increase of prices of fuel oil. Saudi Arabia and Russia have increased the prices of oil.”
