Khurshid and Habib made new Deputy Governors
Staff Correspondent : Two posts of Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank have become vacant due to the retirement of AKM Sajidur Rahman Khan and Abu Farah Mohammad Naser. The executive director Khurshid Alam and chief economist Dr. Md. Habibur Rahmanof central bank are going to be appointed to those two positions.
They are being appointed on contractual basis against two vacant posts. In the meantime, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reportedly signed the appointment documents and sent them to the Financial Institutions Department for issuance of orders.
Khurshid Alam is currently working as Executive Director-1 of Bangladesh Bank. Dr. Habibur Rahman is
Chief Economist of Bangladesh Bank. Now both have to take voluntary retirement from regular service and join the contractual post of Deputy Governor.
The contract of AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan on February 2 and Abu Farah Nasser on February 23 expired as Deputy Governor. Then these two posts became vacant. Abu Farah Md. Naser is being appointed as a policy advisor for the next one year.
