Legal action against illegal use of beacon light, hooter
Staff Correspondent: The Traffic Wari Division conducted an operation from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday targeting illegal beacon/flicker lights, hooters, hydraulic horns, and stickers used in vehicles.
Led by DC (Traffic-Wari) Mohammad Ashraf Imam and supervised by ADC (Traffic-Wari) Sultana Ishrat Jahan, the operation was carried out by AC (Traffic-Demra Zone) MustainBillahFerdous and his team at the Matuail U-loop on Chittagong Road.
Action was taken against six vehicles during the raid under the Road Transport Act of 2018. Two vehicles were cited for illegal stickers, three for illegal beacons or flicker lights, and one for an illegal hydraulic horn.
A review of the raid records showed that one vehicle with beacon lights bore the name of a former Upazila Chairman, a covered van was using beacon lights, and a company car belonging to a ZillaParishad member also had beacon lights.
Furthermore, a company car was found using a hydraulic horn, claiming to represent a Member of Parliament. Action was also taken against a vehicle using a police sticker and another vehicle with a BGMEA sticker from a garments company.
The campaign will continue, as per the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, to ensure order on the roads, according to DC Traffic Wari Mohammad Ashraf Imam.
