The Department of Geological Survey has started exploration work for a new metal mine at Pirganj in Rangpur. It has been reported that modern equipment has been installed in the mining exploration operations in the drilling method; Now only lifting is left.
Ali Akbar, Director of Geological Survey Department, said that the mine may contain copper, iron and other mineral resources. But it will take 2 to 3 months to know that. At that time, he said that mineral resources have been found here. This is a great find; It can change the economy of the country.
Those concerned said that in 1965, initial exploration of metal mining was carried out in the same union. In 1974, the Department of Geological Survey found precious granite stones in Madhyapara, Dinajpur. Since 1994, 5,500 metric tons of granite stones are being extracted from this mine every day.
In 1985 Bara PukuriaCoal Mine was discovered in this district. Where the amount of reserves is 39 million metric tons of coal. Apart from large ponds, there are several coal mines in this division.
Locals said, we did not know that there are mineral resources here.
But whatever the iron, copper or gold in the mine; It will contribute not only to Pirganj but to the entire country. When exploration and extraction of mineral resources begins, the quality of life of the people in the region will change.
Dhaka University Geology Department Professor Dr. Badruddoza Mia said that although the mine is important for the country’s economy, the environment and surroundings must be taken into account in the extraction. He said, this mine will contribute to the economy. Not only that, employment will also be created here.
Bangladesh Geological Survey Directorate discovered an iron mine in Hakimpur, Dinajpur in 2019. Apart from high quality iron, valuable copper, nickel and chromium are also found in the mine. Where there are about 500 million to 600 million metric tons of mineral resources.
