Releasing new currency notes begins
Staff Correspondent: The Bangladesh Bank started releasing new currency notes in the market from yesterday through its different branches and 32 branches of different scheduled banks in the country on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims.
The branches will release new currency notes from April 20 to April 28, excluding weekly and government holidays, on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
As the new currency notes add a new dimension to the festivity, the central bank releases new currency notes on the eve of two major Muslim festivals, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, officials of the BB said.
The denominations of new currency notes, which will be circulated by the central bank, include Tk 10, Tk 20, Tk 50 and Tk 100.
This year Eid-ul-Fitr is to be celebrated in the country in the first week of May.
