Technology to be discussed in 2024
Industry Desk: Last year in the world of technology was in discussion for many reasons. One of the talking points in the tech sector in 2023 was artificial intelligence, which was sparked by the rise of emerging technologies such as generative AI and chatGPT. On the other hand, the debate on how to deal with the potential risks of AI technology in different countries has increased even among the relevant regulatory agencies. Bill Gates himself called 2023 a unique year in the development of artificial intelligence. The year 2023 will be remembered as the starting year in the history of AI or artificial intelligence technology. Market analysts have already expressed their thoughts about how the technology world will be in the next year. The British media BBC has given the impression that some issues will be discussed in the technology world of 2024.
AI will run further
Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, believes that the AI race is not static. He also promised that a stronger version of ChatGPT will be introduced in 2024. At the Software Developers Conference last November, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted that new surprises are coming in 2024. But Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, a consulting firm, said that in 2024, we will see some stability in the world of AI. The upward trend seen will be slow. Some obstacles will slow down the development of AI. Operating an AI system is very expensive. A lot of computing power and expensive computer chips are required, which are in short supply, which will create bottlenecks. Apart from this, the current AI frenzy will slow down somewhat in 2024 due to various laws and regulations.
Demand for electric vehicles
According to Schmidt Automotive Research, the one millionth electric vehicle (EV) will hit UK roads in the first three months of 2024. That is, after Germany, the UK will sell 100,000th electric car. But even with demand, analysts expect 2024 to be another tough year for electric car makers. By the end of 2023, Ford, GM and Tesla have all backed away from plans to scale back production of their current electric vehicles as well as expand factories. In October 2023, Mercedes-Benz described the electric car market as fiercely competitive. The electric vehicle industry is facing a crisis due to price wars and supply chain issues. Analysts do not expect the situation to normalize very easily. Car market analyst Matthias Schmidt said 2024 will be a stagnant year for EV sales across Europe. Strong markets such as Germany and Norway will slow in 2024.
A humanoid robot
Humanoid robots will make headlines in 2024 for a number of reasons. Elon Musk’s Tesla engineers are developing a humanoid robot named ‘Optimus’. They have announced that this robot will soon be involved in the work of various factories. In July this year, Elon Musk announced that the Optimus Tesla factory will start operating in 2024. Elon Musk said, ‘We will first try to use this robot in our own factory sometime next year (in 2024).’
Many companies, including Tesla, have entered the race to develop humanoid robots. Amazon is already experimenting with humanoid robots in its warehouses. The robot named ‘Digit’ can take products from one place to another like humans. Agility Robotics developed this robot. It is expected that next year, common users and customers will be able to do their various tasks through Digit Robot. Canada Sanctuary has created a robot named AI ‘Phoenix’. This robot can do very specific tasks like packing bags. The company said that Phoenix will be able to do more work in 2024.
Technology to lose weight
Various weight loss drugs are in high demand in the pharmaceutical industry. And so different companies are competing to make different weight loss drugs. Medicines maker Novo Nordisk has become Europe’s most valuable company thanks to Wegovi brand drugs. The company is investing hundreds of millions of euros to meet the market demand. Currently, the drug can be used by injection. It is believed that weight loss medicine will be available in tablet form next year. On the other hand, Eli Lilly’s drug Mounjaro has been approved as a weight loss drug in the US and the UK. The drug could be approved in the European Union next year. Pfizer is also awaiting approval to market its weight loss tablets.
