Stock market capital increased by Tk 4,500 cr

Staff Correspondent: After two consecutive weeks of decline, the country’s stock market has gone through a slightly upward trend last week. As a result, the market capitalization of the main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has increased by Tk 4,500 crore. However, in the previous two weeks, the market capitalization decreased by Tk 3,000 crore.
At the end of last week’s trading day, the market capitalization of DSE stood at Tk five lakh 6 thousand 752 crore. Which in the last working day of the previous week was Tk five lakh 72 thousand 216 crore.
In other words, the market capitalization of DSE decreased by Tk 4,534 crore last week. In the previous two weeks, the market capitalization decreased by Tk 3,017 crore.
Increase or decrease in market capitalization means that the share and unit prices of listed companies have increased or decreased by that amount. In other words, when the market capital increases, the amount of money invested by the investors increases. Similarly, when the market capitalization decreases,
the amount of money invested by the investors decreases.
In addition to the increase in market capitalization, the share and unit prices of most companies rose on the DSE last week. Shares and unit prices of 235 companies traded on the DSE during the week.
On the other hand, the price of 125 companies has come down. And the prices of 28 are unchanged.
Last week, the DSEX, the main price index of DSE, increased by 72.43 points or 69 percent. In the previous week, the index decreased by 4.3 points or declined by 6 percent. In the previous week, the index decreased by 7.14 points or 1.10 percent.
The DSE-30, which is made up of well-selected companies, rose last week after falling for two consecutive weeks along with the main price index. The index rose 5.15 points, or 20 percent, over the past week. In the previous week, the index decreased by 10 points or 0.38 percent.
The DSE Shariah Index, which is based on Islamic Shariah-compliant companies, has risen in the past week along with the main price index and selected companies. Last week, the index rose 13.38 points, or 0.96 percent. In the previous week, the index decreased by 4.26 points or 0.26 percent.
Last week, the average transaction on the DSE was Tk one thousand 323 crore 55 lakh per working day. In the previous week, the average daily turnover was Tk 1,275.06 crore. In other words, the average transaction per working day has increased by Tk 36 crore 8 lakh or 2.94 percent.
The total turnover on the DSE during the last week was Tk six thousand 618 crore 69 lakh. The previous week’s transaction was Tk six thousand 428 crore 8 lakh. As a result, the total transaction has increased by Tk 16 crore 92 lakh or 2.94 percent.
Shares of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation were the most traded instrument on the DSE last week. The company’s share turnover during the week was Tk 431 crore 7 lakh 80 thousand, which is 6.52 percent of the total transaction. Beximco, which is in the second place, had a turnover of Tk 338.42 crore. British American Tobacco is in the third place with a transaction of Tk 216 crore 40 lakh 46 thousand.
Also, on the list of top 10 trading companies are Orion Pharma, Fortune Shoes, Saif Power Tech, Acme Laboratories, Bangladesh Building Systems, Bay-Leasing and Investment and Islami Bank.
