Vaccination for children in 12 city corporations on August 25
Staff Correspondent: To curb the COVID virus, the vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 will be started across the country from August 25. Before this, the children’s vaccination program will be held on a trial basis from today.
Confirming the matter, Dr. Abul Bashar Md. Khurshid Alam, director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), told the media yesterday that “initially this program will be conducted in 12 city corporations of the country.”
“From tomorrow, Thursday, we are starting the vaccination program for children on a trial basis. The program will officially start at 11 am at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). After that, from August 25, the vaccination program for children will start in full swing across the country,” he said.
DGHS DG said this vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 years will be held in 12 city corporation areas across the country. “The first phase of vaccination will run for a total of 12 days from August 25 to 7 September 7. Then the second phase (second dose program) will take place two months after the first phase,” he also said.
He added that we have a sufficient quantity of vaccines prepared by Pfizer for children. Our vaccination workers all over the country are also ready. It will gradually start at the district-upazila level across the country.
