Staff Correspondent: No instructions regarding the election or field administration were issued in the meeting, says Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain has advised secretaries and project directors to be more careful in project selection and financing as well as monitoring the direction of global trade and investment.
He said: “We need to closely monitor the sectors that are involved in world trade and investment. This advisory aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in project management and resource allocation.”
He made remarks during a secretaries committee meeting held yesterday.
Cabinet sources earlier revealed that the meeting was aimed at instructing the administration for upcoming elections and expediting government projects. A directive would be issued during the meeting to prioritize the completion of ongoing mega-government projects before the elections.
However, the cabinet secretary clarified the context of the meeting and said: “There were no instructions regarding the election or field administration in the meeting. This is a regular meeting with the secretaries.”
The secretaries’ meeting is scheduled once a month under the leadership of the cabinet secretary, as per the rules.
Monday marked the first secretary meeting in seven months since the Md Mahbub Hossain assumed office.
