Dhaka residents suffer as mercury reaches 40.4°C

Staff Correspondent: Amid the increasing of temperature across the country, Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, on Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 40.4°C.
The temperature in the capital city increased by 2°C on Saturday compared to Friday.
Most parts of the country swelter for the continuing heat wave.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 42.6°C in Jessore which is the highest temperature in this season, according to the Bangladesh Meteriological Department (BMD).
According to Met Office sources, there is no chance of dropping in temperature in the next two days.
From the beginning of this April, mild to moderate heat waves started in different parts of the country.
On April 7 and 8, it rained in different parts of the country which lowered the temperature a bit.

Then slowly the temperature started to rise.
From April 15, A severe heat wave started in different parts of the country. The area of this intense heat wave increases gradually. Amid this worsening situation, a very intense heat wave started in several areas of the country on Saturday.
Apart from Jessore, Chuadanga is also experiencing a very intense heatwave on Saturday.
Due to this heat wave, a heat alert for three days has been issued in the country on Friday.
Besides, the government has decided to keep all primary, and secondary schools, colleges and madrassas closed from April 21 to April 27 due to the heatwave sweeping over the country.
A severe heatwave is sweeping Khulna division and Rajshahi, Pabna, and Tangail districts, according to the BMD weather forecast issued in the morning.
The heatwave condition will remain unchanged for the five days commencing 9am on Saturday, it predicted.
A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping Barisal division, the rest of Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions, and Chandpur and Moulvibazar districts and it may continue, it said.
