Don’t sack employees with lame excuse: BB

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Bank (BB) has issued some fresh instructions to the banks after setting of guidelines on bank officials’ salary structure with a view to ending discrimination.
The fresh instructions include- Bank-company executives cannot be deprived of the promotions they deserve simply on imposing excuses of failing to achieve the set targets or incompetence. Officers and employees cannot be dismissed on the same pretext. That means, if there is no specific and proven allegation, the officers and employees cannot be dismissed or forced to resign.
Banking Regulation and Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued a notification in this regard yesterday. The instruction has already been sent to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks across the country.
