Hajj airfare won’t be reduced: Biman
Staff Correspondent: Biman’s Managing Director and CEO Shafiqul Azim said that Biman will not slash this year’s hajj airfare as they have given the lowest plane fares for Haj pilgrims.
He was briefing the press at its headquarters in the capital’s Kurmitola yesterday.
This year’s hajj flights will start on May 21, Shafiqul Azim added.
Besides, the return hajj flights will begin on August 2.
Earlier on March 16, the religious affairs ministry asked Biman to reduce the airfare so that pilgrims can perform hajj smoothly.
The ministry also said they had negative reactions from different quarters, including pilgrims, hajj agencies, and the media, immediately after fixing of the hajj package. The airfare was fixed at Tk 1.97 lakh for pilgrimage.
Earlier on March 14, the High Court commented that the Hajj packages of the present year are inhumane.
