Heatwave alert extended for 3 more days
Staff Correspondent: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has extended the heat alert for three more days from Monday.
Meteorologists MdBazlur Rahman said the prevailing extreme heatwave may linger in the country for the next 72-hour starting from Monday (April 22).
Earlier on April 19, the Met Office issued first three-day heatwave alert.
Meanwhile, the BMD said this morning that a very severe heat wave is sweeping over Pabna and Chuadanga districts and the condition may continue for the next five days. Due to increasing moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase, Bazlur Rahman, also a deputy director of the BMD, added.
He said the intensity of the heat wave although seems recede temporarily due to the cloudy sky, but the intensity of the heat wave will increase again from Tuesday.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Chuadanga at 42.2 degree Celsius on Sunday.
