Infection may rise for sub-types of Omicron

Staff Correspondent: The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has warned that more people may get infected with the coronavirus due to sub-types of Omicron, the mostly contagious African variant of coronavirus. In this situation, everybody is requested to maintain health guidelines properly.
Dr Md Nazmul Islam, the DGHS spokesperson and Line Director (Disease Control), said this at a virtual briefing yesterday. He said, “A sub-type of Omicron has already been detected in at least 57 countries. According to World Health Organization (WHO), the sub-type may infect more people than before. The infection may rise, the possibility of loss will also increase.”
He further said, “People should follow hygiene rules to prevent more infection. Everybody should use mask and avoid gatherings.”
