Major Mannan defaulted Tk 52.25 cr in Dhaka Bank

Abdul Mannan of the is a defaulting customer in several commercial banks and financial institutions. Pioneer Dresses Limited, Delta Fashion Limited and Sunflower Garment Limited are new additions to the list of defaulters of Dhaka Bank Limited. The default amount owed to these three institutions is Tk 52.25 crore. It is said that the bank authorities have taken the initiative to sell the 394 decimal land of Savar at auction on August 18 to recover defaulted loans.
It is known that the journey of the garment sector in the country was carried out by the hands of Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan. He expanded his business into textiles, pharmaceuticals, aviation, fishing, shipping, financial institutions, insurance, soft drinks, CNG, real estate and telecommunications. Sunman Group of Companies founded by Major (retd) Abdul Mannan has 48 sister companies. Now most of the Sunman Group businesses are closed or in distress. Major (retd) Abdul Mannan’s Banglalion Communications, Alpha Textiles Limited, Delta Fashions Limited, Dresco Limited, Golden Heights Limited, Golden Horizon Limited, Ishakpur Sweater Industries Limited, Peninsula Garments Limited, United Dresses and Pioneer Dresses are among the defaulting companies in the country. Ltd., Bangladesh Industrial Finance Company (BIFC) and Golden Horizon Ltd. and the ACC has a case regarding the illegal looting of Tk 640 crore from Bangladesh Industrial Finance Company (BIFC). Besides, there are hundreds of cases due to default of several banks and financial institutions.
Dhaka Bank Limited Jubilee Road branch manager Shahidul Islam was contacted yesterday afternoon, he said that the loans in the name of Pioneer Dresses Limited, Delta Fashion Limited and Sunflower Garment Limited owned by Major Mannan are now in default. Later, an official, who did not want to name the branch, said Major (retd) Abdul Mannan owned Pioneer Dresses Limited, Delta Fashion Limited and Sunflower Garment Limited. After the last page, taking loan facility from Jubilee Road Branch of Chittagong District of Dhaka Bank Limited for the commercial activities of these three institutions.
The loans of these three institutions defaulted on July 13. At that time, the default amount was Tk 52.25 crore. And against the loan, there is a total of 394 decimal land mortgages in Savar, Dhaka, at the Jubilee Road branch. Bank authorities are taking the initiative to auction the mortgaged properties to recover the defaulted loans. Although he is not taking much initiative in paying the bank dues. And his business is almost closed. As a result, everyone is worried about it. Besides, there is also a check bounce case against them. After that, if necessary, the case will be filed in the court. However, he does not show any interest in paying his dues.
On the other hand, when contacted on the phone number used by Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan, the connection was found to be disconnected. As a result, his comments were not received.
