NBR working tirelessly to enhance revenue from internal sources
b The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is working tirelessly to increase revenue from internal sources to materialise the dream of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build Bangladesh a developed nation by 2041.
High officials said this today at a function arranged by the office of the Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur at Begum Rokeya auditorium of RDRS Bangladesh here to honour the best and longest period taxpayers of the zone on behalf of NBR.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the function as the chief guest with Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur Abu Hannan Delwar Hossain in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Taher Md Masud Rana, Commissioner of the Divisional Customs and Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Rangpur Shawkat Ali Saadi were present as special guests.
The chief guest with other guests distributed citations and crests among 56 highest and longtime tax payers of Rangpur City Corporation and seven districts under the jurisdictions of Taxes Zone-Rangpur in four categories in the function.
Additional Commissioner of Taxes for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Md Monjur Alam delivered a welcome address narrating the huge successes achieved by NBR in enhancing revenue in the forms of income tax, customs and excise duty and value added tax (VAT).
Expressing satisfaction over the increasing trend in revenue collection, the speakers lauded the government for easing the income tax payment system and taking steps to increase the number of new taxpayers.
Shawkat Ali Saadi called upon every eligible citizen to pay income tax spontaneously to feel proud of becoming a contributor to the national development and to enjoy a sound sleep without any tension.
Abu Taher Md Masud Rana stressed on adopting time-befitting policies to bring all eligible citizens under the income tax payment network to further enhance revenue earning for speeding up national development.
Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud called upon eligible people to come forward with patriotic zeal and pay income tax spontaneously as a responsibility of the citizens.
Devdas Bhattacharya termed taxpayers as the most respectable citizens of the country for their contribution to the national development through paying income tax spontaneously.
Abu Hannan Delwar Hossain said, Bangladesh is on the highway of development and the revenue being collected by NBR is playing the most crucial role in building a developed Bangladesh by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Felicitating award winning taxpayers, the chief guest asked them to inspire eligible citizens in paying income tax as the current number of only 29 lakh taxpayers in the country of 170 million people is not satisfactory and also shameful.
