No more illegal liquidity support for banks: Governor

Staff Correspondent: The central bank will no longer provide illegal liquidity support to any bank including Shariah banks.
Tuesday (August 20) Governor of Bangladesh Bank Ahsan H. Mansoor said this. The governor briefed after the meeting with business representatives.
He said, ‘We will take action against the person involved in the illegality. But not against the institution. Because, every organization involves many employment issues. Besides, action against weak banks is under consideration. But no decision will be taken suddenly.
The governor said, ‘If the depositors withdraw money from the banks of S Alam, it is the result of their actions. The depositor has the right to deposit money where. He said, “There are rumors of canceling the Tk 1000 note, but there is no such decision to cancel the note.”

When asked if the notes with Bangabandhu’s photo removed and signed by the new governor will come soon, the governor said, “When it is necessary to make notes at the mint, the notes will be printed and signed.”
