Padma Bridge’s entire roads now visible

Staff Correspondent:The last slab on Pillars No. 12 and 13 of the Padma Bridge has been placed yesterday, as a result, 6.15 km roads of the bridge have been visible, with this, the dream Padma Bridge project has reached a new milestone yesterday.
Confirming the matter to Daily Bangladesh, Padma Bridge Executive Engineer Dewan Md. Abdul Quader said, “The last slab was placed at 10:12 am.”
According to the relevant sources, the overall work of the bridge project has progressed by 87.25 percent till July this year. The progress of the main bridge has been 94.25 percent – which means, 5.75 percent of work of the main bridge has remained.
Meanwhile, the financial progress of Padma Bridge (expenditure) has been 90.18 percent. The contract value of the main bridge is around Tk 12,494 crore. Till July 31 of this year, around Tk 11,268 crore has been spent.
Work on the Padma Bridge, Bangladesh’s largest project, began in December 2014. On September 30, 2017, the first span was installed on pillars no. 37 and 38 of the bridge.
41 spans of 150 meters length were placed on 42 pillars of Padma Bridge one by one. The last span was installed on December 10, 2020, with this, the 6.15 km long Padma Bridge was fully visible. The Padma Bridge is scheduled to be opened to traffic by June 2022.
