Pipeline gas going to 11 districts of North

New economic prospect sees day light

Zarif Mahmud: Agriculture, the life and livelihood of a large population of northern region of Bangladesh depends on agriculture. As a result, people who depend on their daily income are jobless for almost half of the year. Although there are entrepreneurs, no heavy industry has developed in this region due to lack of gas and infrastructure. As a result, job opportunities have not been created for a long time. Domestic and foreign investment did not happen.
But this time there is a possibility to turn around. People in the north are getting high pressure gas link. Meanwhile, about 90 percent of the construction of the 150 km pipeline from Bogura to Rangpur to Syedpur in Nilphamari has been completed. Through this pipe line of 30 inches diameter, gas will reach 11 districts of the north including Rangpur, Nilphamari.
It has been found that 90 percent of the gas line installation work from Bogura to Syedpur has been completed. Now the construction work of CGS and TBS is going on vigorously. Meanwhile, two TBS are in Rangpur and Pirganj. Besides, there will be three gas supply stations at Rangpur, Pirganj and Syedpur. The Syedpur gas supply station will have a capacity of 100 million.
The Gypsum Structural Company of India is working on laying the pipe line through the river bed. Two river crossings have already been completed and one more is in progress. In order to avoid any kind of damage in the future, there is also using advanced technology.
Business leaders say that after the completion of the project, new industries and factories will be developed in the region. This will improve the quality of life of the people of this region.
Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industry president SM Safiqul Islam Dablu said, we have EPZ. When gas comes, there will be new industries. Due to the low cost of labor, the industry has immense potential in this region.
Debashish Kumar Biswas, manager of Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL), said that the river drilling work in this project is being done through an international contractor. The pipe line was made by a domestic contractor. Despite many challenges, I am doing the work successfully with everyone’s help. We can supply gas to the people of Rangpur at the right time.
He further said, we have three stations to supply gas to the project. Among them, Syedpur has a capacity of 100 million, Rangpur has 50 million and Pirganj station has a capacity of 20 million. The work will be completed this year.
