PM to inaugurate tree plantation campaign today

Staff Correspondent: The World Environment Day-2021 is going to be observed today in the country like elsewhere in the globe through virtual programs in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic. On this occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the National Tree Plantation Campaign-2021.
According to ministry sources, the Prime Minister will plant four saplings of Sonalu, Berry, Amra and Fig trees at Ganobhaban at 11am.
Environment, Forests and Climate ChangeMinister Shahab Uddin, Deputy Minister Begum Habibun Nahar, Secretary Ziaul Hasan, and relevant officials will be present.
This year’s National Tree Planting Campaign will be celebrated under the theme ‘Mujib Borshe Onggikar, Sonar Bangla Sabuj Kori’. In this slogan, the promise of planting trees in Mujib Year will inspire the people to fill Bangladesh with greenery.
On the other hand, according to the UN Environment Program (UNEP) announcement, the whole world will celebrate World Environment Day this year with the slogan ‘Ecosystem Restoration and Join# Generation Restoration’.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of World Environment Day, the government hopes that the country’s large population, especially the current generation, will play a leading role in conserving the ecosystem and biodiversity.
