Price of green chilli shoots up to Tk 100 per kilogram
Staff Correspondent: The price of green chilli increased further at the city retail markets as it soared to Tk 100 a kilogram (kg) yesterday.
Traders said that green chilli prices have shot up because of a supply shortage following the slow import of the item from India.
Mafizur Rahman, a buyer told risingbd that he bought green chili at Tk50 a kg last week ago. But, yesterday he has to pay Tk100 to buys the same vegetable.
He also said, “Green chilli prices rose abnormally in the last five days. How can poor people buy these?”
Faruk Hossain, a wholesale dealer said, the supply shortage is an issue behind it. That’s why the price of green chili increased further.
