Industry Desk: The government has increased the price of 24 types of medicines by 5 percent to 12 percent of the medicine manufacturing company Libra Infusions Limited following the increasement in the price of raw materials.
In view of the application of Libra Infusions Limited in the High Court, the price has been increased according to the direction of the court, said Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA). Ashraf Hossain, director of the DGDA confirmed this information yesterday and said that according to the instructions of the court, a meeting of the drug price determination committee was held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Health last Sunday afternoon. It was decided to increase the price of medicine in the meeting.
Health Services Division Secretary Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Howlader presided over the meeting where Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, representatives of Bangladesh Consumers Association, Bangladesh Medical Association and Bangladesh Pharmaceuticals Society were present.
Medicines whose prices have increased
The price of 500 ml cholera saline of Libra Company has been increased from Tk 61 to Tk 72. The price of 1000 ml has been increased from Tk 88 to Tk 98, 2000 ml increased from Tk 113 to Tk122. 500 ml Hutsman solution price increased from Tk77 to Tk82, 1000 ml Hutsman rose from Tk 95 to Tk105, 500 ml Hutsman plus from Tk 55 to Tk 66, 1000 ml Hutsman increases from Tk 71 to Tk 80, 0.09 sodium chloride price rose from Tk 64 to Tk 66, Tk 74 sodium chloride to Tk 80, Tk 89 sodium chloride to Tk 100, Tk 102 sodium chloride to Tk 115, 10% dextrose rose by Tk 10 to Tk 90, Tk 98 dextrose to Tk 105, Tk 70 dextrose plus sodium chloride to Tk 80, Tk 93 Tk Dextrose Plus Sodium Chloride to Tk 107, Tk 25 Dextrose to Tk 75, 25 Dextrose from Tk 78 to Tk 82, 5% Dextrose to Tk 105, Tk 66 Dextrose Plus Sodium to Tk 72, Dextrose plus sodium of Tk 78 has been increased to Tk 82, dextrose plus sodium of Tk 93 has been rose to Tk 100.
