Renowned personality Aziz Mollick buried in Shariatpur

Staff Reporter: Alhaj Azizul Haque Mollick (Aziz Mollick), a renowned personality of Shariatpur, distinguished politician and social worker was laid to rest after funeral prayers at his village home Manua of Bhedarganj Upazila of Shariatpur district on Wednesday.

He was buried in the family graveyard at 5:45 pm after the fourth namaz-e-janaza held at Manua Eidgah Maidan. Second elder son of the deceased, former Commissioner of Dhaka South City Corporation Moinul Haque Manju, nephew Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra (Cricket) President Rasulul Haque Shaheen Mollick, District Awami League General Secretary senior journalist Anal Kumar Dey, Bhedarganj Upazila Chairman Humayun Mollah, Upazila Awami League President Tofazzal Hossain Moral, freedom fighter commander Mannan Rari, Chhaygaon Union Parishad Chairman Md. Kamruzzaman Liton Molla, Engineer Shahabuddin Khan, among others, took part in the namaz-e-janaza. After the funeral, the local leaders paid their respects by placing wreaths on the coffin of the deceased.

Earlier, his first namaz-e-janaza was held at Golapbagh Jame Masjid in Dhaka after Fajr, the second at Tikatuli Jame Masjid at 10 am and the third at Burirhat Jame Masjid in Shariatpur. Aziz Mollick breathed his last at Asgar Ali Hospital in Dhaka at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday.

Political career of Aziz Mollick began in Dhaka’s Golapbagh in the company of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was a close associate of national leader late Abdur Razzaq. He was the adviser of the district Awami League. He was instrumental in the elevation of Shariatpur from Sub-Division to District. He contributed a lot to the development of the district when he served as the general secretary of the Shariatpur District Development Association in Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded him gold medal to this renowned personality of Shariatpur as the best son of the district.
