Vigorous campaign of traffic in Motijheel to evict street hawkers

Staff Correspondent: As hawkers occupy a large portion of inadequate roads in Dhaka mega city, public life has come to a standstill, and thousands of working hours have been wasted with a very negative impact on traffic and public movement. Previously, the Motijheel Traffic Department has evicted hawkers from many places under its jurisdiction.
In continuation of this, yesterday June 2, hawkers were evicted simultaneously from Bangabandhu Square in Gulistan to Golapshah Mazar Link Road, Purana Paltan area and Fakirapool area to clear the road. At this time, the goods were seized and the hawkers were sent to the police station. Local residents, passers-by, general public and conscious community applauded this initiative of DMP.
It should be noted that the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Habibur Rahman, BPM (Bar) has been working hard to improve the traffic management of the capital by solving ‘spot by spot’ problems. The traffic department is working tirelessly day and night with a mamimum of professionalism and manual labor.
In this regard, Deputy Police Commissioner of Motijheel Traffic Division Mohammad Mynul Hasan PPM said, under the leadership of DMP Commissioner, Traffic Motijheel Division is determined to clear the roads and keep them open for vehicles and people.
Mizanur Rahman, head of PRD of Pubali Bank, said that traffic congestion and public suffering have reduced significantly as the majority of hawkers have been removed from the road from Zero Point to ShaplaChattar. He welcomed the initiatives of the DMP Commissioner and expressed the hope that all the roads and footpaths of Dhaka would be cleared of encroachment.
Traffic Motijheel Department requests commuters of all walks of life to nurture and observe the culture of traffic order and law abiding. The traffic department is committed to providing relief to the esteemed city dwellers.
